Exterior wall mural. 16' x 35' ft. Located on Railway Ave in Mission, BC. Painted with Doug Cariou of Cyrus Art. Depicts the injustice that occurred against Japanese Canadians during the second world war when they were forced to leave their homes and were sent to internment camps after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. They were promised that they would receive all of their land and possessions back after returning from the camps but everything they had was confiscated and never returned. The woman is weeping over the flag because the country that she loves allowed this injustice to happen to her and her people. |
